Description

Three calendulas grown together and allowed to cross: a classic orange calendula with a dark center, a full double golden calendula, and a pale white cream calendula. Calendula is pollinated by insects and crosses freely between varieties, so this seed potentially will not come true to any one parent. Expect a range of forms and colors, from singles to full doubles, white cream through deep orange.

That range is the point. Grow it out, see what appears, and save seed from the plants you like best. Over a few seasons you can select toward whatever you want: a color, a flower form, or simply the plants that do best in your garden.

Calendula is easy to grow, easy to save seed from, and one of the best crops to learn on. The seeds are large, curved, and unmistakable, and the plant will self-sow if you let it. Flowers are edible and traditionally used in salves and teas.
