Seed saving works because many people each do a small part. Here are ways to be one of them, whether you have ten minutes or a whole season.

Start here

Request free seed. Plant it, grow it out, and see how it does in your conditions. This is the first step in everything else.

Save seed and send some back. Seed you return goes out to other growers. One packet becomes many, and the variety keeps circulating.

Support your local seed library. Seed libraries run on volunteer effort and donated seed. If there’s one near you, it can probably use both.

Share what you learn. Tell a neighbor how you saved seed. Bring seed to a swap. The knowledge spreads the same way the seed does.

Grow deeper

Become a grower. Take on a variety, grow it in isolation or as part of a mix, and produce seed for distribution. We provide the seed and growing support.

Host a class or seed swap. If you have a space and an audience, we can help with materials and instruction.

Volunteer your skills. Seed cleaning, packing, photography, writing, illustration, translation, data entry. Small organizations run on the skills people bring.

Fund a seed increase. One packet sent to a grower comes back as hundreds. It is the most direct way money turns into free seed.
